Возможности платформы TypeLab
Exclusive Cyrillic for digital design — browser editor, API integrations, usage analytics, and a growing designer community.
Explore the Editor View API DocsOne platform, every type task
TypeLab was built by type designers who were tired of juggling five different tools to create, test, and ship Cyrillic typefaces. Our platform combines a full-featured browser editor, a production-ready API, real-time usage analytics, and a community workspace — all under one roof.
Since launching in March 2022, TypeLab has helped over 1,200 studios and independent designers ship more than 340 Cyrillic type families across web, print, and embedded systems. Whether you are kerning a 48-glyph display face or managing a 2,400-glyph variable font with 9 axes, the platform scales with your workflow.
Design glyphs without leaving your tab
The TypeLab Editor is a zero-install, WebGL-accelerated type design environment that runs in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It supports full OpenType feature editing, variable-axis interpolation, and live Cyrillic previewing across 14 reference fonts.
Bezier & spline editing
Draw and refine contours with quadratic and cubic Bézier curves. Snap-to-grid, auto-symmetry, and overlap detection keep your glyphs clean at every weight.
Variable font interpolation
Define up to 11 design axes — weight, width, optical size, slant, and 7 custom axes. Interpolate masters in real time and export WOFF2 variable fonts instantly.
OpenType feature panel
Build ligatures, alternates, contextual substitutions, and Cyrillic-specific features (calt, case, locl) through a visual rule editor — no manual code required.
Live Cyrillic preview
Type any Cyrillic text and see it rendered with your work-in-progress glyphs at multiple sizes. Compare against reference faces like PT Sans, Bitter, and Exo 2 side by side.
Metric & kerning studio
Adjust side bearings, tracking, and kerning pairs with a pair-wisem view. Import kerning groups from existing UFO or Glyphs source files in one click.
Version history & branching
Every save is versioned. Create branches for experimental cuts, merge them back, or roll out to any previous state — full Git-style history without leaving the browser.
Ship type from your own pipeline
The TypeLab REST API and Webhook system lets you embed type generation, licensing checks, and font delivery directly into your CMS, design system, or CI/CD pipeline. Over 85 production integrations are documented and actively maintained.
REST API v3
Programmatic access to every editor action — create glyphs, set metrics, generate OTF/WOFF2, and manage licenses. Rate-limited at 1,200 requests per minute on the Studio plan.
Webhooks & CI/CD hooks
Trigger builds on font-commit events. Push generated WOFF2 bundles to your CDN automatically via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or custom webhook endpoints.
Design-system plugins
Official plugins for Figma, Sketch, and Storybook. Pull live TypeLab font variants into your component library and keep type tokens in sync across teams.
Licensing SDK
Embed our JavaScript SDK to enforce font licenses on your website. Supports per-domain, per-impression, and enterprise seat-based models with automatic compliance reporting.
CMS connectors
Native connectors for WordPress, Strapi, and Sanity. Map font variables to content fields so editors can choose weights and widths directly from the content dashboard.
CDN delivery
TypeLab's edge network serves fonts from 42 PoPs worldwide. Automatic subsetting, Brotli compression, and preconnect hints cut first-paint font delays by up to 400 ms.
Know how your type performs
TypeLab Analytics gives font foundries and design teams visibility into how their typefaces are used across the web. Track impressions, weight distribution, geographic reach, and rendering issues — all from a single dashboard.
Impression tracking
See daily, weekly, and monthly impression counts for every font family and variant. Drill down by domain, country, and device type with exportable CSV reports.
Weight & axis usage heatmap
Visualize which weights and axis values your users actually load. Identify underused masters you can prune to reduce file size and improve performance.
Rendering issue alerts
Get notified when your font triggers FOUT/FOIT events, exceeds layout-shift thresholds, or fails to render specific Cyrillic clusters on target browsers.
License compliance reports
Audit who is using your fonts and whether they hold a valid license. Automated monthly reports flag unlicensed domains with direct contact links for outreach.
Build type together
TypeLab is more than a tool — it is a space where Cyrillic type designers share knowledge, collaborate on open-source faces, and give feedback on each other's work. The community has grown to 4,800 members across 62 countries since our first public design sprint in November 2022.
Open-source font lab
Contribute to 28 active open-source Cyrillic type projects. Fork a face, propose glyph changes, and merge your improvements — all tracked with full attribution.
Design sprints & challenges
Join monthly themed sprints — "Geometric Cyrillic," "Humanist Serifs," "Variable Expressive" — and compete for featured placement on the TypeLab homepage and a $500 design grant.
Critique forums
Post your work-in-progress for structured feedback from senior type designers. Each review covers proportions, counterbalance, Cyrillic-specific diacritics, and OpenType strategy.
Education hub
Access 140+ video lessons on Cyrillic anatomy, metric design, variable-axis planning, and foundry business basics. New courses are added monthly by instructors from Paratype, FontFont, and Commercial Type.
Showcase gallery
Browse 1,100+ completed Cyrillic typefaces created on TypeLab. Filter by style, weight range, and license type. Every entry links to a live specimen and the designer's profile.
Team workspaces
Invite up to 20 collaborators to a shared workspace. Assign roles (designer, reviewer, publisher), set branch protections, and manage release schedules without leaving the platform.
